Interesting!
I like it when you explain the etymology and linking words because it helps one to remember it. Buiochas!
I love the proverbs! More please!
Thank you Bitisize folks, have a nice day.
💖
Amazing, I remember learning it in school but had forgotten half of it, thanks so much, gonna enjoy studying this and relearning it
Very nice to learn these. Go raibh math agat.
Tá fáilte romhat!
Lovely! How do you say gelding? My lovely boy Max has big ideas when he sees the mares, but he doesn't have the equipment.
Ha! The word is 'gearrán': www.focloir.ie/ga/dictionary/ei/gelding. Funny, as it is just one 'r' away from he Irish word for 'complaint/grievance', 'gearán'.
Fascinating. The colour red linking to the very, physical core of our being, as in the blood, heart, flesh in general and as a way to express the intensity of our experiences.
This was so good! Thank you for sharing. I live in the USA. My family is Irish (McGuire/Downey), and my husband is an O'Farrell/O'Reilly. Since I was a little girl, my grandfather instilled into me that I am Irish and proud. So many of the things I do naturally, I'm learning are very Irish characteristic. I have my milk cows and move them from field to field. Now I know why I have such a deep love for my cows. Thank you for sharing. One day I hope I can make it over to Ireland, to see this beautiful sacred land my people come from.
Dia is Muire duit á Siohban, ❤Can you translate “A Prayer of Praise” in the Bible, Jude 1:24-25? I’m sorry to ask, it is a special thing you can do, translating. Anything you do is a gift. I learn from your Ár nAthair every day.
thank you for this!
No worries!
THANKS FOR THE TIP!!❤
I want to ride my rothar!
Íontach ar fad. Go raibh maith agat Siobhán.
Al Read often says "Oiche Mhaith" at the end of the day's broadcasting on Radio 4.
Haigh a Pheadair. Thaitin an agallamh! go mór liom. You have great tips-- especially with patience in learning-- so important! Feicfidh mé in Beo thú.
This is so cool. Thank you for the video. As an American with Gaelic heritage, I want to try to "remember" the culture that has been passed over for generations.
Best would be to have a girlfriend from connemara. But i don't think my present partner would be enthusiastic about that😂
Can't wait to see a sruthán (maybe the accusative case would be needed here, as in Latin?) sléibhe again soon. Thank you Bitesize Irish and Happy Summer Solstice.
This is genuinely a great video, I hope to see more of these.
Glad you like - loads more on this playlist: www.youtube.com/@BitesizeIrish/shorts
Fantastic, Gó máith
I am looking forward to learning Irish from your Channel Súin.... Eílís De Bhailís. 🎉
Nach é 'Fir Manach' an dóigh cheart á rá in sa tuiseal ainmneach agus @Fear Manach sa tuiseal ginideach?
Ní hé, a chara: www.logainm.ie/ga/100014
go raibh mile maith agaibh😉
Can you please translate "O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus" by Salt of The Sound?
As someone with a neo-pagan background, I recognize Bealtaine, Lúnasa, and Samhain as the names of the festivals on May 1, August 1, and November 1. Is there any differentiation between the festival dates and the names of the months in Irish or are they just used interchangeably? Or maybe the festivals aren’t even paid enough mind for that to really matter? Haha
The months in question get their names from the festivals. So, mí na Bealtaine is 'the month of (the festival) of Bealtaine' and so forth.
💖
How do you say "First" in Irish?
That depends on which 'first' we mean. Here's the dictionary entry, if you are thinking of 'first' in terms of dates head for point #16 : www.focloir.ie/ga/dictionary/ei/first

This is very helpful, Ben. Thanks!
Do ye teach connacht or munster irish?
Bitesize Irish courses do not focus on any particular dialect - the core learning materials are broadly based on 'An Caighdeán oifigiúil' (the official standard Irish based on all three dialects). That said, these pronunciation videos are presented by Ben, who is from the West Kerry Gaeltacht of Corca Dhuibhne and so speaks the Munster dialect.
Thank you Bitesize!
Tá fáilte romhat, a Kitia!
well done, i might memorize this and add it to my daily list, thank you
Beautiful, I'm a Catholic.
I'm curious to know if the same word structure is used for other ocean names. Would the Pacific Ocean be "An tAigéan Ciúin"? Google translate is very confusing, and I want to get the structure right.
In a word, yes. You might find the online English-Irish dictionary more useful that than Google translate: www.focloir.ie/en/dictionary/ei/pacific
@@BitesizeIrish Thanks!

Haigh a Pheadair! Maith thú! I really enjoyed this interview with Emma. Nice to hear about your journey and always nice to chat on Beo! As before, I love your tips for learning Gaeilge.
I would love to be able to speak Irish.
